Tailor Shop Services
  The J.Kleinbauer Tailor Shop is staffed with a team of experienced professional tailors, using top-of-the-line equipment.  Through their efforts and expertise, we are able to take care of most of your tailoring needs.
   
  Some examples of commonly-requested alterations include adjusting sleeve or trouser lengths; taking in or letting out the waist of trousers or skirts; adjusting seat and rise; and adjusting side seams.  Some common types of repairs include replacing buttons, repairing or replacing zippers, hem and seam repair, and replacing linings in coats, trousers, skirts, or dresses.

 

Tailor Shop Services and Price List

It is impractical to provide estimates for most tailoring services, since we need to first review the garment, the type of fabric, and the extent of the alteration or repair.  As a guideline, though, the table below shows the pricing of some of the more commonly requested alterations and repairs.  Please understand that we need to actually see the garment before providing an actual cost estimate.

What CAN'T the Tailor Shop do?
  Some fabrics cannot be easily altered, such as some types of heavy leather. Other types of fabrics may be taken in (shortened), but do not look good when let out (lengthened.)

  Alterations to expand or lengthen garments depend on there being enough material to use in the expansion. 
  Rush.  Good alterations take time.  If you need tailoring done within a short timeframe, please discuss this with us first to make sure we can meet your time requirements.
  Garments should be clean and in generally good condition, aside from the areas needing repair. 
  We will alter or repair existing garments, but we do not make new garments from patterns or designs.
  We strive to handle almost all types of tailoring services, but we can't predict every situation.  If you think you have a challenging situation, please discuss it with us first to make sure we can meet your needs.
 
How fast will alterations and repairs be done?
  Routine alterations and repairs are usually done within 7-14 days.  More complex jobs will require more time.  We can provide a better estimate once we've had an opportunity to review the garment and discuss your needs.  
 
How should apparel be brought in for alteration or repair?
  When possible, we ask that you call ahead to schedule an appointment with one of our wardrobe consultants.  This ensures we are able to give all of our attention to your specific needs.  All apparel should be brought into Kleinbauer's in good condition, and recently dry-cleaned (with all dry-cleaning tags still attached to the garment.)  Please make sure that all personal effects are removed (tie pins, cuff links, jewelry, collar stays, etc.)

 
Where is the Tailor Shop located?
  The J.Kleinbauer Tailor Shop is completely on-site, located in the basement of our downtown Selinsgrove store.  Except for unusual circumstances, your garments never leave our facility or control, ensuring they receive the highest level of care.
